Rebekah P. Tozer, LISW-CP
Hi! I'm Rebekah
Game of Thrones enthusiast, podcast connoisseur, and dedicated therapist who has walked the therapeutic path from both sides of the couch. As a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Clinical Privileges (LISW-CP) in South Carolina, I bring nearly a decade of professional experience combined with personal insight to create a truly understanding therapeutic environment.
My journey into mental health began with my own experiences in therapy, where I discovered the profound difference that genuine understanding and neurodivergent affirming care can make. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina College of Social Work in 2017, building upon a Bachelor of Arts from Boston University. This educational foundation, combined with nine years of clinical practice, has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to help adults navigate complex mental health challenges.
I specialize in working with adults who are navigating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and challenges related to neurodivergence. If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or like you are supposed to "just be happy" but cannot figure out how, that is something I deeply understand, both professionally and personally. My practice is particularly focused on trauma recovery, LGBTQ+ affirming care, and neurodivergent support, creating a space where you do not have to mask or hide any part of who you are.
My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based treatments including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed practices. I also incorporate embodiment practices and strength-based interventions to help you reconnect with your body and build resilience. Whether you are processing trauma from sexual abuse, managing substance use concerns, dealing with mood disorders, or navigating the complexities of dual diagnosis, I provide culturally sensitive, person-centered care tailored to your unique needs.
What sets my practice apart is the combination of professional expertise and lived experience as a neurodivergent individual. I understand what it feels like to be out of step with the mainstream, to struggle with expectations that do not fit your neurotype, and to need space that honors your authentic self. This personal insight allows me to create therapeutic relationships built on genuine understanding, not just clinical knowledge.
At Paper Crane Wellness, I offer a sex-positive, affirming approach that honors all aspects of your identity and relationships. I work with veterans, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and anyone who has ever felt like they do not quite fit into traditional therapeutic spaces. My goal is to help you build a life that feels more manageable and meaningful, one where you can navigate challenges with confidence and authenticity.
When you work with me, you can expect a therapeutic relationship that is collaborative, respectful, and deeply attuned to your needs. I combine motivational interviewing techniques with trauma-focused interventions to help you move from surviving to thriving. Whether you are dealing with stress, substance use, or the aftermath of traumatic experiences, I am here to support you with evidence-based care delivered with compassion and understanding.
